The Hunter X-Core controller is one of our favorites for residential or light commercial use. It’s low cost, but full featured and can be upgraded to include the Solar Sync ET sensor or a rain sensor. It’s available in a 2, 4, 6, and 8 station version and comes in either an outdoor or indoor model. The X-Core has 3 independent programs and has up to 4 available start times per program. The outdoor version includes a plastic cabinet. We’ve installed many of these over the past couple of years and have had no issues to date.
